There were three action days (October 12-14, 2020) on which we harvested and collected with about five people for three to four hours each. Together we were able to bring together three crates of apples and achieved far more than a ton of fresh fallen fruit! The hand-picked apples were then turned into a very tasty apple juice.
And this is how the refinement happened:
The apples were driven in the crate with a forklift to the start of processing, so that from there they fell directly into a washing drum via a chute. They were examined one last time on the slide. Freshly showered, we went on to the press. The juice obtained was heated to 80°C and poured into the dispensing containers while it was still hot. With 91x 5 liters and 25x 10 liters we came up with a total of 705 liters of delicious „Zapfeljuice“. The goods, which were still very hot, were then taken to the Fichtehaus on a trolley and assembled directly in the entrance area.
A special thank you goes to Martin from Autohaus Kümmerle for releasing the nine apple trees near Altenriet, the Gugel cider plant for the possibility of temporary storage and the very professional further processing, to Lidewei as the initiator of the collection campaign and of course to the many harvest helpers!
